NIRPC is proud to support youth in shooting sports!

Winnebago Shooting Sports 4-H Club is entering its 6th season, and NIRPC allows the use of the range for 4-H rifle shoot dates. The 4-H Shooting Sports program in Illinois is open to youth ages 10 through 18, and is run under the auspices of the University of Illinois Extension. Youth learn the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of marksmanship, and more, in the three disciplines of rifle, shotgun, and pistol. Older, advanced shooters may take part in local, state, and national competitions. Winnebago Shooting Sports 4-H Club appreciates the support that NIRPC has given over the years, as the program has reached many local youth and their families. The 2017 rifle shoot dates are Saturdays from 9am to 1pm on April 1, May 13, June 10, and Aug 12. These dates are reflected on the NIRPC website calendar, as the range will be closed until 1pm on those dates.

Last year the Winnebago 4-H rifle team took first place at the Illinois state competition, and 2 of the Winnebago County shooters will be the first ever smallbore rifle competitors from Illinois to attend the nationals. These young people volunteer at events, share their knowledge with new shooters, and recruit new youth to shooting sports. You may see them at our club meetings and putting in extra practice at the range! All across the country, the hundreds of thousands of youth involved with shooting sports today are the future gun owners and gun club members in America. NIRPC is proud to help shape the future in this way.
